look at musicmagic mixer's playlist methods

Post by mdeland »

If there is a possibility, a bridge, plug in, some way, to use the musicmagic directly in MM...whoa! I use musicmagic to create playlists then transfer them to MM and it is great, Albeit awkward. Some real creative code guy should be able to do this .

why do you do that?

media monkey is a full featured media organizer, playlist maker, player converter, burner, it is better then the other one so why use the other one?

once you start looking at and using media monkey you will find it is better at things then you think? and there are lots of good scripters making scripts for media monkey.

but what you are asking them to do is create a script to make media monkey in to a first rate program controled by a third rate program?

makes no sense to me :-? :o :(

I agree MM is a great product, but the list mechanics of musicmagic bear so looking into as thay are unique and interesting. Some of the mixes it produces seem odd on the surface yet they work well and provide enjoyable content not so easily available elsewhere.

If you can suggest in more detail the playlist creation features you would like then I'm sure the MM team will look into developing them. Just suggesting another program is not necessarily that helpful. Be more specific about what you like.
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

I think he means Predixis MusicMagic playlist wich are based on file analyses and mood settings. http://www.predixis.biz/Predixis_Mixer.htm
I don't know the software but I am going to give it a try (just for fun ;)).

Exactly! The auto playlist includes analyzing the music against a master DB and uses the information of and about the file to suggest playlists without entering any thing else other than 1 (or more ) song(s). DGMW, I love MM I am just facinated by the mechanics of Musicmagic Mixer's system.

i still fail to see the need for it?

you can use randomize in the auto playlists and you only put music on your computer you like so why have a computer program check the music played to see if you like other styles on your computer and make your playlists out of them, if you like all the songs on the computer? :-?

For better understandings some info from their 'help'. http://music.predixis.com/4_help_moods.html

ps. I uninstalled it again ;) It took a massive piece of processing time. My PC wasn't very happy with it :p Although a funny feature

It is cpu intensive. My collection is about 9000 files and it took a few evenings to analyze the library then it is great with a much reduced load of the ol' cpu.. AND it automatically opens MM. But I have to save the playlist (mixes) manually.

I agree Predixis Music Magic is an excellent way of creating playlists that don't rely purely on the data that you have in your tags.

I think the most realistic option could be to do the same as WinAmp has done & integrate it into the program.

This will probably involve the developers contacting Predixis direct to see if they are interested.

Drag and Drop support in to Playlists/Track List

Post by mdhmdh31 »

Predixis is great for automatically creating mixing moods and styles. If MM would support drag-n-drop in to one of its playlist, that would meet the need. (You can drag and drop out of Predixis.)

I think this request could be accomodated by running a check of the dragged file location to make sure it exists in the MM library. (I would certainly be happyto take the hit to processor usage while MM verifies the dropped are files are in the database.)

The program also has a standalone Winamp plug-in. I wonder if this would work with MM. It appears to do what you want. Also, the company involved is in a sector that specializes in "predictive analysis." The question is will the plug-in work with MM as written and be effective.

As far as I (and others) can tell, that doesn't work. http://forums.predixis.com/index.php?showtopic=1545

Thanks for the idea, though.

I love Predixis MusicMagic Mixer and use it often. Great app!! It takes time to analyze the entire library but after that it takes absolutely no resources at all. You just pick the starting song and it makes mix of tracks that are some how related to picked track.

I love it for making mixes. Results are superb!!

I love it as well, but have you been able to successfully integrate it to MM via the WinAmp plug-in?

My current use pattern is: Predixis stand-lone app to generate a playlist, save it to an m3u, then import to MediaMonkey. At four or five iterations per day, I would be much happier if I could just drag-and-drop the song names into MM Track list or Playlist.
