Player window doesn't get rewritten properly

Post by Ben »

Using the player within the main window. I drag a track from the main title list onto a rating. The player window will now almost always fail to refresh until I close it and reopen it. Sometimes even then text will get "stuck" in the player and the currently playing track name prints over it.

XP SP2 machine. Nothing unusual about it...

I have exactly the same issue. The player window works fine until an edit is done on any tag information. After the edit the player window starts to mess up. The scroll handle disappears and the song title text overlays the previous song title making it impossible to read.

I saw another post regarding this issue and tried editing the .ini file. There was no improvement.

Perhaps someone can suggest a remedy.

Thanks.

I had the exact same problem for a long time, until I made the switch to the in_mad.dll input plugin. Which seemd to fix it.

It doesn't seem to be reproducable for us. Do you have a debug log, possibly also a screenshot of the problem?

Thanks,

text gets stuck is the key here.
it is a ghost text left over from windows. the same text images happen when moving icons and other files from time to time. only this is the first time it showed up in monkey? get a ram cleaner and use it to clean the ram, make sure you clear out the precache cache also and try clearing the page file when you close windows.

Yes, I too have been having this problem for a long time. I fix it by minimizing Media Monkey & then maximizing it. It is almost as if it is not re-drawing itself properly.

I too have Win XP Sp2, however I do have a dual monitor setup, not sure if this makes a difference.

It usually happens for me when i skip to the next track before the current one ends. The player remains with the details of the last song.

This does seem to be a bug that needs to be fixed.

I do have a screenshot. It's created by:

opening MediaMonkey
starting a song to play by double-clicking it in the Library list
dragging that song from the Library list on to a rating
going to the next song by pressing "Next".

The details of the last song - the one I rated - remain frozen in the player window.

I can't find a way of posting the screenshot...

Never had any similar problems within Windows. It doesn't continue from session to session, so cleaning out the page file is not relevant.

i been getting ghost text too.

only not in media monkey. its been showing up when i use the window's explorer to go through the properties of files or use the right click context menu?

i think it might just be an error caused by the last windows updates on thursday?.

i also have this on winXp sp 2.

not on my win98.

Player Ghost Image

Post by rusty »

Ben,

I tried the repro steps you mentioned but can't reproduce it.

I'm wondering if it's h/w related. Could you and everyone else experiencing this let us know what video h/w & drivers you're using?

mine does not show up anymore so it makes me think it must be something to do with windows updates. or you fixed it now but tylast is still having it? :-?

Hello,

I have the same issue and i can reproduce it easily by editing the properties of the currently playing track and then clicking OK => the player window always fail to refresh after doing things in that order.

Minimizing then maximizing MM solves the problem. I've seen that happen in both skinned and unskinned modes.

Hope it helps

Please try to create a debug log of this as it might contain clues to what is going on. Also include as much information as possible about your system.

I have just discovered this problem when editing song properties with build 963, now I installed 2.5.3 and I still have the same problem.

Closing the player window and re-opening it helps, but if you are editing a lot of files, this is rather stupid.

If you haven't got a debug log for the problem yet, give me a short note and I will make one in the next days.

Edit: It is even worse, sometimes parts of the player window are appearing in the main window, where the titles show. I made a screen shot. Parts of the vu-meters and the scrollbar title are appearing there.

bye
Wolfgang
