It sounds like you're talking about folder/filenames instead of tags. That would require [url=https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp:Adding_Existing_Files_to_the_Library/5.0#Manually_Scanning_Files_into_the_Library]Infer Properties[/url] to be enabled.

You can manually fix this with [url=https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp:Auto-Tag_from_Filename/5.0]Auto-Tag from Filename[/url].

I didn't know that, I should have paid attention to that—honestly IDK. What I do know is the file is the name of the artist, and inside is another file with the album. when imported to MM5 I get unknown\unknown\this.mp3 which messes things up when importing 3 or more artists.

What File Type(s) are affected, Explorer doesn't handle all fie types very well.

I'm using MM5 Lifetime Gold 5.0.4.2690 in Windows Explorer the year is entered for the album, but once I import it into MM5 the year is not added.

Edit: Sometimes MM5 removes all the tag info.
