Why not use M3U to export, then import? Especially when not using extended M3U it's a simple list of file Paths, which will be much easier to edit on the destination PC.

I am sorry for wasting precious human resource power and time with my stupid questions.
Finally I found the reassign disk item.
It took, however, quite an adventure to find. After installation that item does NOT show, because you have to:
go to Tools -> Options -> Library -> Collections&Views => specifically check the box for "Entire Library".
Only then items like Location etc, are displayed on the screen. That setting is obviously not the default.
Apparently the disk does not need any reassigning. Its the "D:\" where my music is stored.

Importing playlists still does not work. Almost none of the imported playlists works.
And as far as I could find out so far, importing ONE specific playlist seems to be only possible,
when that list is put into folder with nothing else in it. Or is there an "import playlist xxx" option somewhere?
Even after I edited some to change "E:\" to "D:\" nothing is displayed and I get an error message that the resource could not be found.
By now I have found I think at least 4 different ways this item is expressed:
<location>E:/Music/
<location>..//Musik/
<location>../../
<location>..//
<image>E:/Music/
<location>E% something (percent encoding)

So, what is required to make the playlists from "E:\" actually work on "D:\"
I also tried to "export" a single playlist to .xspf, but it (naturally?) does not work on the other computer.
What do I have to do, to tell the computer all the music is right there?

In Playlist files you need drive letters, not driveID. The Path listed in a Playlist file needs to point to the actual file the PC you're importing the Playlist.

The database should be the same at home and in my office, since the music folder has been there for years now while I kept its contents the same.
All I want to have/copy/share is the playlists.
Media Monkey apparently does not allow to export (or import for that matter) a SINGLE list; only all lists at once (unless there is a trick).

Editing playlists with a text editor ... I have tried that a million times by now, but so far nothing has worked. I checked the syntax in one of the exported playlists and tried to recreate that in my other playlists. Did not work.
Is that maybe because I need to specify the drive ID and not the file path? Which does not seem to be possible for me.

Does this really have to be soo difficult?

You take the database file, but need to re-assign the drive before any scanning.

You can also export Playlists, use any text editor (like Notepad) and Replace the part of the Path that differs and then import the Playlists.

Let's forget about playlists created by other applications.

Is there maybe an elegant way of "copying" playlists from one computer to another (both of which having MM5 installed), where the music files are located in drive D:\Musik\ and E:\Music\ respectively?
I tried to copy the database from one computer to the other, where I moved the existing database first to a backup location and then rescanned the local drive. Yet, that renders almost all files inaccessible.
It would be really nice if I could 'share' of creating playlists on one computer with another of my computers.

Did you enable XSPF to be scanned? If done so, just point Add/Rescan Files to the folder where the Playlists are imported.

I am new to Media Monkey and am still trying to figure out, how it works.
One thing I would like to know first is, how to import playlists.
I could not find anything helpful in the application itself and do not really understand the documentation.
I DO HAVE a number of playlists created with Clementine / Strawberry -> xspf files that can be opened with a text editor.
Copying some of those into the folder "C:\Users\Thomas\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey5" shows them under
"imported playlists" (along with several THOUSAND others all having the same name = "album").
However, they are empty, although they all contain full paths to the respective songs.
E.g., <location>E%3A/Music/00-MeineCD/Classic/Julian Bream/Baroque Guitar/02 Canarios.wma</location>

Is there a trick to teach Media Monkey that these are (valid) playlists?
(And preferably stop listing thousands of albums, because the aforementioned playlists are listed at the very end of that long list.)
Or does this require to edit the Media Monkey database?

If would be really nice, if importing such playlists were possible.
