I had also issues to sync my playlists. I have Mediamonkey since years and as Firewall "Avast Free" and had no issues with syncing in the last months.
Despite adding Mediamonkey as an exception to Avast's Firewall, the sync. didn't work. Only when deactiving the Firewall for some minutes, then it works.
So, unfortunately, this is not really a permanent solution, because it means I have to deactivate the Firewall everytime I wanna sync my playlists.
But I'm not an IT expert and it's very frustrating when you read instructions and you just can't get any further. Therefore, deactivating the firewall is certainly not the best solution, but at least it helps in the short term - and I'm only writing this because others may be in the same situation and can also update their playlists with this “short-term solution”.
