Random play

I would like to see the random play feature improved. The idea I have in mind really stems from lazyness. Often, I just want to start up MM and set it playing random tracks. At present you must construct a playlist of some description before the player will select tracks, random or otherwise. It ...

Classification properties not available as vewable columns

MM2.2, XP The tempo, mood, occasion and quality fields on the "classification" tab are not available as columns in the list view. The 3 custom fields are. I wonder if that is because the classification properties are available on their own toolbar? Although, having said that, the "rating ...

Mouse wheel scrolls the wrong way

The window contents scroll the wrong way when the mouse wheel is used. Rolling the wheel towards you scrolls the list upwards and rolling the wheel away scrolls downwards. This is the opposite to all other software (that I use, anyway). This is not the same problem that kknostman reports, where the ...

Problems with plugins

Just had a play with the DFX option - some comments: Selecting the DFX plugin when it is unselected selects it and fires up the configuration panel. OK. However, when the plug in selected the Configure button pops up an acknowledgement box, and the config panel is only shown when you OK that. Not at ...

Website update needed!

Hi Folks!

Could you update the news section of the website, please? MediaMonkey's been with us a while now :-) I was actually looking for a comprehensive run down on what had changed between my v2 and the new beta version before downloading.

Thanks,
Dave

Quick find facility difficult to use

Typing an alphanumeric key whilst in the right-hand panel produces some peculiar behaviour. If you enter a group of characters in quick succession MM will move to a matching entry. However, event the slightest pause between key presses causes MM to forget the preceding keys and start again. If this ...

Lowlander makes some good points, now (s)he's joined the discussion for real! My main gripe with some of the solutions being bandied around is their complexity - I suspect that the sort of feature set that involves weighting genres is just too complicated for most people and unnecessary to boot. I ...

No joy. I've sent some screen shots to support@songs-db.com - if that's no longer the right mailbox let me know.

I read with interest jt004c's proposal for "proportional representation" of genres. However, I just can't get my head round the need for such a scary feature. The only use I can think of where it would be of benefit is to create a sorted list, based on genre, with the hits matching the criteria the ...

Good to know it's on the list. Is there a workaround for the command line options in the meantime, short of firing it up from a batch file?

Change of database location not picked up from .ini file

I have changed the database location from the default in the MediaMonkey Data subfolder on the C: drive to "CacheDir=D:\Music\DBcache\" but noticed that the change wasn't honoured. With MM closed, I moved (not copied) the database from the C: drive to it's new home and when next started MM threw up ...

Splash screen and command lines

The only way to zap the splash screen seems to be with /nosplash on the command line. However, I can't find a way to alter the shortcut to include a parameter. It's fine from run... but when I add /nosplash to the target in the icon's properties it claims it can't find the file. I really hope you'll ...

Can I change the "genre" list?

I have a couple of strange entries in the dropdown genre list - 1969 4DsoëAP? I also could do with zapping a lot of the existing ones as they are entirely irrelevant to my collection. The examples above are in the Access database but can I edit that list without causing problems elsewhere. What ...

Cataloguing by genre is inadequate

After an initial stab at cataloguing my material I'm finding MediaMonkey a little limited in one specific area; that of film music and soundtracks. The problem is this: A vast amount of music used for films is not specially written but already exists. Where music is specially written, it often then ...

I suspect this might be more to do with the Windows interface than anything else, and I think it's OK (although I hate Windows generally!). However, one thing that might be improved is to retain the selected folder in the tree view in the lefthand pane, whilst working with entries in the right hand ...
