Best way to connect MM to Stereo

Post by eladb »

Hi,

I ripped my entire music collection using MM - I now have all music on an external drive, in FLAC format.
What's the best way for me to connect to my stereo? I have a dedicated 'music' PC (old laptop connected to stereo) that I can use as my controller for MM.
I tried Squeezebox, and that gives very good results vs. using a simple external audio card to connect the laptop to the stereo. The problems is I like the MM interface much better than the Squeezebox one, plus it's faster and I can change stuff if I want to. With Squeezebox, everything has to be scanned into the library again, and it's slow moving through a large collection.

Any other high-fidelity solutions for connecting my hard drive to my stereo, and using MM as the interface I use to select songs?
Thanks :-)

theres lots of other threads about this,
you might try looking at the one i did several years ago theres lots of good information in it.

its audio broadcasting ? i think thats the name, but its in the news and other stuff forum a search for fm transmitter would find it also. but there's been lots of posts to that thread suggesting other ways to send the sound to your home stereo. so you might find what you want in one of those replys. or one in another thread.
:)

good luck

With the laptop you do not have true line level out, just the headphone out. You can use this with some tweaking of the headphone output. You can also use a Xitel's HIFI-Link or there is a an external soundcard by maudio as well.

Here is another forum post regarding this matter -

I am also going to get an apple touch and set it up with VNC so I can use it as a remote for my setup.
