Is there a way to convert txt files to lrc files that scroll

Post by steviegt »

Is there a way to convert lyrics txt files to lrc files that scroll? The lyrics editor in Minilyrics lets you do this but you have to play the song and manually advance the lyrics one line at a time. Ouch. There has to be something more simple than that.

No, there isn't. How could a computer possibly know when each line of the song begins??

ps - creating lrc files is not really that hard. It only takes as long as the song is, which is only about 4 minutes for an average track. I've created and uploaded over 500 lrc files on my own...

Did you do it using Minilyrics? One line at a time? I know you're right it's not that hard. I guess I've gotten spoiled with all of the scripts out there. Does Minilyrics create the lrc file when the song starts or does it download that file from a database? If it's downloaded from a database, is there a website that you can download them from? I guess my thought is that a song plays at the same speed no matter what computer/player it's on so once an lrc file is created why can't it be shared, dowloaded and embedded?

It can be shared, and that's the whole point of Minilyrics -- to download synchronized lyrics that others have uploaded. Of course, in the instance of tracks that are new or not so popular, no one has made them and thus you have to do it yourself.

I just thought I could some how manually download and embed without listening to the song first. Anyway, right now my real priority is cleaning up all of my tags. Once I get that done (hopefully over the next 1-2 weeks), I will work on unsynchronized lyrics. I would like to contribute/share those newly created sychronized lyrics once I create them. Where do you upload the to?

Do you know of a way to tag from the web for individual songs? I have been using Mp3tag for that and it works great. I have tried with MM and it will find an album based on the seed song, but it doesn't give you multiple choices to choose from. For example, it may present you with the greatest hits album. I may want the tag info from the original album or an older album than the greatest hits. I do not want to have to know that album title before starting the search.

You can upload them directly through Minilyrics after creating them, you just need an account:

MM should offer multiple choices to auto tag from via the drop down in the auto-tag from web window. There are also several other scripts available to tag from sources other than Amazon, I had found Amazon to be the most accurate until recently, now I prefer to use the MusicBrainz tagger script as my source. here are the available scripts:

I will look more closely for the dropdown. That would make life alot easier. Thats the last thing keeping me tied to Mp3tag. I like Amazon to. I started using Yahoo as my first attempt/choice. The reason is Amazon has and other tag sites will list for example a 2 disc greatest hits cd. It will list and number your tagged songs as 1-25 spanning the 2 discs as one. Yahoo will show it as 2 discs and number your tags as 1-13 & 1-12 accordingly. The downside to Yahoo is it doesn't always have the album art.

yes you can get them to scroll automatically.

but not in mediamonkey.

use a karaoke program called karafun.

make a kfn file with their editor then you can play the songs in there and watch the words move by
just like you want. mind you though it will take some getting use to having the kfn files with photos or videos behind the words. but you should like it after you get past the sea sickness you can get if you make the words
and video move the wrong speeds or directions.

i know you can play lyrics in mediamonkey with script add in. but as mediamonkey is the best music organizer and library program and the fastest one for huge song library's.

the same is able to be said for karafun, it is the best karaoke program there is.
