WASAPI Plugin volume defaults to max volume [#16748]

In both the latest MM4 and MM5 (2258) the out_WASAPI.dll plugin has an issue setting volume to the preset value (volume slider). In MM4 the slider jumps to the max. volume (100%) when playback is started. In MM5 the slider stays at its preset position (e.g. 10%) but output volume is at 100% and only a click on the slider reduces the volume.

I have tested this with a Remote Audio device through a Remote Desktop session only. The DirectSound plugin plays with the correct volume.

One more thing I found was that when the "exclusive mode" in the plugin is activated it seems to save the state of the volume slider. This mode does not work for me (error popup). However, when this mode is deselected again the plugin appears to remember the volume setting from that time.
