Can you close MediaMonkey, rename persistent.json to persistent.json.old and start MediaMonkey: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... ini-files/

Does this resolve it? If not, can you switch to the Material Design Skin: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... g_the_Skin

Just tested. Got the default skin but the exact same problem. But in orange

You could try taking your database to the new Portable Install. This way if the problem still occurs it would likely be the database that's the problem, otherwise there may be a corruption in your install.

Oh yes, damn, you're right. You already suggested that. Sorry I was too nervous with my DB at risk

Tried that, new install, added DBName=\\<dbname..> to [system] and it works.
So I guess, I just have to add the millions of tiny things hand by hand again and will never know what effed it up?

You could try an install on top of 5.0.2.2527 and see if that fixes it. Otherwise a clean install with your current database will likely fix it as it works in the Portable Install.

Yet...now I am stumbling over another problem. All works fine, but the moment I play a song, the mouse lags like hell as long as MM has input-focus AND is playing something. Tried DirectSound too, disabled VIS and Wavebar, now I'm outta ideas? Installed only the code-monkey skin and that's about it.

Does it happen with other Skins? What is shown in the Filelisting? Are you maybe viewing the Playing with some Artwork animation?

Tried. Yes. Others skins too. No animations, and everything else looks fine (as usual).
Did a complete new install, only added the DB-name=xyz this time, tested the same songs and it happened again. But at the same song as before so I changed a bit in the properties (deleted one of the album-arts) and since then it works.

Weird. The song was absolutely fine before and randomly chosen to test.

After testing out a lot and to whomever it may concern: The horrible lagging seems to be 99,9% because of weird way-too-long lyrics which weren't lyrics but some website's content. Somewhere along the last months some lyric-addons probably downloaded too much crap it seems. After deleting those lyrics, all was fine again.

Do you still have a sample of those Lyrics? It could allow a developer to analyze if there improvements that can be made in performance when dealing with them.

As promised:

Added some tracks recently, and auto-tagging got some weird lyrics again that slows MM down like hell:

Song was "return to gates of dawn" by "battle dagorath" album "dark dragons of the cosmos"
Upon deletion of lyrics, all was fine again.

Following the "lyrics" (excerpt, been too long to post, 142k characters):
