Re: Upgrading To Latest Version
Hi Lowlander,
Thank you for your response.
Question 1: What would be the extra benefits to upgrading to 2024 Gold MMW 4. as opposed to keeping my current Gold version of MMW 4 on my Windows 7 Pro Desktop ?
I am thinking ( as suggested from my earlier posts ) of purchasing a new 2024 MMW 4 Gold for my "new" Windows 11 Pro Desktop computer, instead of making use of the "collection" route, as suggested in your previous reply, thinking the reason for doing it this way would be for a "clearer and cleaner" method for me , of having MMW 4 on both computers operating completely independent of each other, and also as I am not good at navigating around in MM and I am easily confused.
This might be a very direct and uncomplicated approach to accomplish the goal of having a MMW 4 Gold library on both my Windows 7 Pro, and my Windows 11 Pro desktop computers, with each of the libraries functioning independent of each other.,
I should add, that the older Windows 7 Pro computer Library would be copied and transferred via Flash drive to my new computer running Window 11 Pro .
Question 2
actually 2,3 and 4)
The Question is, what exactly would be copied and transferred from the Windows 7 Pro to the Windows 11 Pro? using a Flash drive , just the Mp3 song files or the whole "structured" ( formatted) Library exactly how the library is in the Windows 7 computer ? and if it is the whole "structured" library, would it really interfere ( mess up the new purchased program on the Windows 11 computer ? ). I really don't know, having never worked with a flash drive , what is going to be copied and transferred.
Bottom line is, I am really not sure how to have the latest edition of MMW 4 on both computers working each of their own Libraries independent of each other, and with my favorite songs exclusively on one computer and some of my wife's favorite songs mixed in with mine on the other computer, and by the most non complicated way to make this happen !
Many thanks.

1. See: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp:What%27s_New and https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... 7s_New/5.0
Note that there is no official support for Windows 7 in MediaMonkey 2024. However Windows 11 is supported.
2. For migration see: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... w_computer I'd migrate from the same version to the same version to keep things simple.

Re: Upgrading To Latest Version
Hi,
As a "follow-on" to the previous post, I decided to use the Flash drive to transfer my MMW 4 Gold license over from my Windows 7 computer to the Windows 11 computer.
Using two separate accounts on the Windows 11, (one for me and one for my wife) we both now have (hopefully?) our own individual libraries, so I can add new songs to my Library and she can do the same in her Library.
Only one snag so far ?
Some of the songs titles, artist names and paths in the Libraries are "grayed out" .
According to MM these songs were unable to be located ?
The funny thing is, that when I clicked on those grayed out lines, they played just fine, so they are there, but MM can't seem to recognize the location of them ?
The number of songs match in both libraries and the GB memory also match each other, so I am hopeful that everything has transferred with no missing songs.
I did notice that some of the songs were from Artist "compilation" CDs, ( more than one artist) and were identified as
the artist name "Various" in the library.
Others may be originating from different paths (C:\ Music, C:\MyMusic etc,,. )
Question: What is causing this, and how can the issue be resolved.
Many thanks.

Not sure, and we'd only be able to troubleshoot this with MediaMonkey 2024.1.
