Hello new guy here,love MM!!
Ok my problem,I store all my music on an external hard drive(250 gig 90 gig free)Im running Vista Ultimate on a p4@3.4 with a gig of ram and when I first installed MM and had it index my media library(E: ) it ran perfectly. Now when I go to start MM I keep getting this error:

Cannot create file C:\Program Files\winamp\winamp.m3u
(I dont have winamp on my system)

I should mention that at the top of the error message it shows the track title I was previously playing,I click ok and MS wants to know of the error so I tell it to look online but that does no good, the error details are as follow:

I would really like to figure this out as I DJ at a bar during the bar(nothing fancy just play music) and I really don't like using Windows Media Player and I never have any luck with Winamp it always crashes. Thanks in advance for any and all help and if you need more info I will try to reply with such.

I have no clue why this is happening to you but what happens if you manually create C:\Program Files\winamp\winamp.m3u?

According to this thread, everything should work fine if you create an empty "C:\Program Files\Winamp" folder.
However, this remains a strange problem. Could you email the developers with a description of the problem and a debug log (as explained here)?

I think this is caused by certain plugins, not sure which tho.

Are you using any non-default mediamonkey loaded plugins?

Ok I created the folder,it works, and I know why it wouldnt create the folder itself,Vista needs permission to do that,so that looks like a bug associated with Vista.
Thanks for the fast reply from the both of you.

I've seen this error while playing songs, not while starting MM though. It started for me when I started using the alpha of Trillian 4. It has a Winamp plugin that shows alerts whenever Winamp does something. I'm guessing it affects MM because of its Winamp support.

Is someone able to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem, e.g. is it MediaMonkey or one of the Winamp plugins (input, output, dsp, gen??) used by MM that causes the error (and crash?)?
Has someone been able to make a debug report?
This thread (unless it was a Vista development version)shows that the problem is not specific to Windows Vista.
