Library display question

Post by Chrispy »

I've been using MediaMonkey for a long time.
I have yet to find a way of displaying my music folder, subfolders and albums the way I want.
I really don't want to change the way I store my music, and I'm hesitant to allow MM to re-organise it!

I would like to display my Music folder and subfolders in the same way my file manager displays them.
(I would attach screen grabs but I don't understand how to get a URL. Why can't I just upload an image?)

My file manager displays, on the left hand side, under 'This PC', my Music folder.
When I click on Music, I get a display of my 5 subfolders, Choral, Classical, Non Classical, Organ Music and Playlists.
When I click on a subfolder I get a list of all my album folders.
When I click on the album folder I get a list of the tracks.

How do I get MM5 to display just the Music folder on the left hand side, without all the stuff I don't use?

I don't need Home, Playing etc. And under Music I don't need All tracks, Albums, Genres, Artists etc. etc. etc.
Any advice on how to achieve the KISS principle for this would be appreciated! :D
Thank you.

It seems to me you could do this by editing the list of what to display in the left pane.

Click the 3-dot menu top right corner of the left pane, choose "configure collections and nodes", and uncheck everything except folders.

You might want the playlists node as well if you have any.

Yes you can disable nodes and customize which subnodes are available: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... ollections

You can also Pin nodes to be able to quickly access them.

Thank you!

I found the pinning idea worked best, I now have tabs for each of my 'Genre' folders.

Much appreciated! :D
