MediaMonkey Newbie Questions

Post by jo72 »

Hi everyone

I've just joined as I'm very new to MediaMonkey. I was previously using Sony's Music Centre on my PC to upload tracks to my Sony NW-A306 Walkman but found that software very limiting as to what you can do with arranging your music and playlists, etc as I was more familiar with using Apple's iTunes back in the day.

I have two questions. One is, how do you add single or multiple tracks to a playlist? When I select a one or two tracks from an album, rather than just adding the two tracks it adds the whole album, which is not what I want. I'm right clicking on the mouse and choosing Send Files to> and selecting the Playlist but this just adds complete albums only.

Question two is, how do I add these playlists to my Sony Walkman on the MediaMonkey App I've downloaded to it?

I may have more questions to ask but this is just for starters. Tried looking on YouTube for tutorials but all I can find is videos from 2009 which are just too old and outdated.

Thanks

1. Are you sure you're sending to a Playlist, not to the Playing queue? The behavior you describe is only possible for the Playing queue. Also which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using?

2. You need to Sync to the device. Select the Playlist and run Aut-Sync and the Playlists will be on the device.

I'm using the latest version of MediaMonkey Gold v.2024 1.0.3113. I'm definitely not adding the tracks to a queue.

In the Artists folder, I'm selecting an album then selecting one track from that album by clicking the 3 dots next to the track name. This brings up the drop down menu, which I'm then choosing Send To > then Playlists and then the playlist I want that track to go in. By doing this though, it's adding the entire album and not just the one track I wanted.

The only way around it so far is to just remove all the unwanted tracks from the album in the playlist but that just seems like a long winded way of doing it.

Can you please retry with the latest MediaMonkey 2024.2 test build? Using that I was unable to reproduce the issue.

Thanks for your replies. Ok, so I uninstalled the version I originally downloaded and installed the Debugged version you gave the link to.

I then tried to add individual selected tracks to a playlist again but still encounted the same problem where it showed the complete album in the main window in Playlist

I then tried another way, which was to select the individual tracks I wanted and drag them across to the right collumn showing the playlist, which worked as I could now see the tracks I selected in the playlist. I went back to the main Playlist window however and still noticed though that it only showed complete album tracklisting rather than just the tracks I selected?

So, the playlist does only contain the tracks I selected but it shows the complete album and full track listing in the main window. I hope that makes sense??

Is there a way to change this, so I only see what I've added?

[SOLVED] Hi, I solved the problem. I switched the VIEWS mode panel box in the upper right corner to a different view and now it's only showing the selected the tracks in the main Playlist window.

Thanks for your help

Can you confirm that you don't have an issue with the playlist panel on the right (it shows exactly what was added), but instead have an issue when viewing the Playlist in the main panel when using the Grid (by Album) View?
