CD Metadata Lookup Failing - 3163

Post by MattTown »

Hi,

I have a steady input of CDs to my MM library, several per week. I am accustomed to nearly all of the CDs being found via metadata lookup, with the Rip dialog usually offering me several alternate sets of album data.

I have found with V3163 that the last 5 CDs that I ripped were not found in the metadata lookup process, which is a failure rate more than 10 times normal. The albums that failed lookup were:
  • Rick Wakeman - A Gallery of the Imagination
  • Simon & Garfunkel - Parsley Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (remastered with bonus tracks)
  • The Crazy World of Arthur Brown - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
  • Toto - The Essential Toto (2CD edition)
Only some of these are relatively obscure - there is no way a lookup should have missed the Toto and Simon & Garfunkel CDs.

Ripping without lookup gets fixed by a combination of Auto Tag and Organise, but it would be better getting good data to start with.

My MM Options have the Audio CD metadata lookup database set to Freedb(CDDBP) and I have not consciously altered any of the MM options relating to lookup before the failure of the process.

Cheers
Matt
