forum Fonts

Post by rovingcowboy »

can you guys unlock the fonts? i can't get them to zoom with the mouse now.

and i have to try and get them to zoom with the magnifer in the maxthon brower but that does not do too good of job on them.

and this small size 1 fonts is really hard to read on this 1024 x 768 pixel screen. my video card drivers were updated and now i can't get the screen any smaller then 1024 x 768 so reading this forum is really getting hard on the eyes.

:( :o

okay i got the IE version 7. it now lets me scroll all the fonts on this site but what is going on is that the fonts are not getting larger the page is.
so in order to get the fonts big enough to read
i have to make the page 10 times larger so can you make the fonts lager on the forum in the messages and in the text area box's the only fonts that get large now ar the ones for the links in the blue monkey table header.
:(
thanks

no i been using the mouse wheel

but it don't make sense to have to magnify the web sites to read the dang fonts.
it i not just this forum but most php forums and lots of other web sites. all the fonts are too small unless they have been sized by the website creator.

so who's ever idea it was to make the fonts that small in the first place needs to be delt with in an most unplesent manner.

Maybe it's not the forum fonts, but maybe you need an eye examine? :o

As Teknojnky says, the problem isn't the forum. Anywhere on the www, this kind of font size is used (and certainly all phpBB2 forums work the same way > giving trouble to change the font size).

As I already said in your other forum post about your same problem:
-> In IE, change the accessibility options to "don't use website's font size", and then you can choose the IE font size you want (in the options, but also with the "Smaller, Larger, ..." list in the main GUI).
-> In Maxthon, you can do exactly the same + you can also zoom the complete page, which is even better.

So options enough... why don't you use them?
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

you missed the message steegy look at them again i said i am using them
it is just that the fonts should not have to be magnified in order to read them on the forum.

they were not before last week but something happened now all the fonts on this forum are size -1 and i can only use the acessablity option you metion on other sites it no longer works for me on this forum.

i have to use the magnifire in Ie and or Maxthon. but i find this one in the new IE 7 to work far better at Magnifing then the maxthon one does.

Actually IE7 finally displays font sizes correctly and has the same size as Firefox and others display.

As for the size as others said I find the font size perfectly readable.

what are you kidding? what size of screen do you use.
i have to magnifie them and the ones on some other php forums.

you must be using a 320 x 240 size screen because this one 1024 x 768 screen the fonts are unreadable with out a pair of cokebottle eye glasses. :o
they are so small i have to look like this :x to see them.
they are -1 in size or maybe even -2 but they sure are NOT +1

if this is the normal size of fonts online with fire fox i am glad i don't use fire fox.
you could almost write the word " I'm " on the table border with the fonts at this size.

i am guessing though it might be something that ms has done in their update that messed with my computer because there is no way the fonts i see when i don't use the magnafire are readable.

If your using 1024x768 what is your screen size, like 14 or 15"??

Most modern screens of 17"+ are much better @ 1280x1024 or higher.

I run my screens at 1600x1200 resolution, anything smaller the windows/text is TOO BIG while the screen space is too small.

My home system is two 20" dell LCD's @ 1600x1200.

BTW, you should be able to go to the control panel > display > settings > advanced > general and change your DPI setting to LARGE SIZE (120 DPI).

My screen resolution is 1920x1200 and I don't have 20/20 vision but the size is perfect and very readable.

I think this may be an issue more with your monitor type or VGA card rather than with software?

I do understand the frustration of not being able to see clearly whatever it is you want to look at, everything is like that to me without glasses :o

1400*1050 on a 15" screen. Even if I take my glasses off I can read everything without a problem.

okay guys this is a dell 20 inch crt monitor. with a dell demension 8200 tower and an nvidia card.

but the dpi setting i had already tried nice tipthough. but was already there,
it did nothing,

anything i do on this to adjust the fonts don't work? i even went to the ie options font's button and foundthe largest font for my langague set up which is ariel black font. and it did not change anything..

the same font seletion is now the part of view menu on ie 7 so setting it there does nothing aswell.

i really am thinking it is software paulmt because it only happens on text areas on all sites and on fourms just php forums.

the web sites i make i code in the size of the fonts i want to use. and when at 100% magnification they are just what i set them to be.

if i don't set any size they are this dinky dinky -1 size font.

if you have not got them yet then it must be an update i got that is not yet able for you to download? when it is you will be in the same boat as me unles they get it fixed.

oh paulmt i feel for you but i got you beat if i take my glasses off i can't see anything over a half inch from my eyeball. which is the tip of my nose.

i can see them but you ever see first grade water paintings? they are all smear'ed that is what i see with out glasses.

but its not my glasses as i said it is only in the text areas and on php forum messages. it's almost like someone got bought off by the eye doctors union to make small fonts so we need to get glasses earlier in life.

:-?

this is from a beta tester of windows vista.
  • "why the text looks different in Internet Explore it uses a nifty function that uses font control, so if a web page is slightly bigger than your screen and resolution is should shrink to fit "
that would be IE 7 he is talking about. so maybe that is why i can't get the fonts to look as big as they once were.

No, sorry not that. Although of course, like everyone, I do think the developers at MS all sit around devising ways to take away our liberties and freedoms and in this instance your ability to read your favourite forum site. The are without doubt evil and should be brought to account for doing this to you

BUT! I don't use the IE7 UI but I do use a browser that uses all the IE (and now IE7) engine, features, settings and security controls.
I have been using the IE7 engine right through it's beta releases and now the final release to public and I have not experienced your problem.

I am sympathetic because we are "visually impaired brothers" :o but I think I am being more objective in looking at how many others report this issue, and I see only one. That says to me it has to be local to you.

You say you may have an advanced software upgrade that may not be available to most, if thats the case REPORT IT as buggy!

I have just discovered the "readme.txt" in MM directory and I note there is comment in there about software for those that have issues with reading MM - have a look.
