New iPod "Classic" Compatibility
I'm really not an iPod or Apple fanboy- but I really like the new 160 GB iPod "Classic."
Do you guys think the iPod classic will be compatible with MediaMonkey right away?
I'm also excited about the upcoming 16 GB (flash) Zen player from Creative... looks like a great design!

If I had to guess, I'd say that the classic will probably work right away. I'm guessing that the classic really is nothing more than the previous IPods with external modifications and a larger hard-drive (just my guess).
I'm interested in it too for the 160 GB capacity, but we'll see. Archos has a 160 GB touch screen device that is a bit bigger than the IPod Classic. One of those will probably be my next device.
The touch IPod will probably work with MM as well as the IPhone does, and the Classic Ipod could have a similar interface, but I doubt it. I think that is all OS dependent.

I just got a 80gig iPod classic and tried to sync it with MM. MM found the player without any problems and it seemed to sync the files without issue. MM showed the new files on the iPod correctly but the iPod would not recognize them (or any of the tag info). When I started up iTunes to see if it would recognize the files on the iPod it indicated that the iPod file structure had errors (can't remember the exact wording) and wouldn't let me go any further without resetting the iPod to the factory default setup.
Note: All my files are stored in FLAC Codec so I have to convert to MP3 as part of the sync process. This is my first time dealing with an iPod so it may have been a user error on the setup.
Any Ideas?

Mash, I've got the same thing, with iTunes refusing to recognize the iPod content that I loaded with MM 2.5.5 gold. The only reason I even care is that I want to put some videos on my new iPod Classic 80GB.
Anybody have suggestions for other means of getting video onto the iPod? I take it MM won't support video until 3.0 (if then).

iPod Nano (with video)
I'm having the same problem with MM 2.5.5 and my new 3G iPod Nano...MM appears to transfer songs to the ipod just fine, but then when I actually go into my ipod to listen to music, nothing shows up under the song list, and when I start up iTunes again, it says that the file system on the Nano has become corrupt...
hopefully this is fixed in the next release of MM, as I still much prefer it to iTunes...

I have the 160 GB and I have the same problem. MM sees it and I can play songs on the ipod using MM, so the transfer has worked properly, but the iPod says there are no songs on the unit. I took a look at the iPod database and I can see the songs in there as well, but the iPod doesn't see 'em. Hope there's a solution very soon.

I don't have either of these new generation iPods for testing (and won't have for at least a week). So, anybody having this problem, please try the following:
Upload a single track to the _clean_ iPod using iTunes and send me the whole content of iPod_Control folder on the iPod - you can leave out Music subfolder, it isn't important for testing.
For comparison, it would be better if you do the same step using MediaMonkey, and again send me the content of iPod_Control folder.
Thanks,
Jiri
P.S.: My e-mail is visible to anybody who's logged on - just see the e-mail button.

Yup - same here.
Got a 80G classic. Uploaded a bunch of cd's from my hard drive using MM - and nothing on the iPod.
BTW - I restored the ipod, then uploaded using iTunes (you may not realize how painful this was for me. I've got 5 kids - we all have various players - and everyone uses MM!). I also loaded up a couple vids - a rush dvd and a video podcast.
The podcast & rush dvd worked fine, but still no music. All the albums are listed, and songs, but when i hit the play button, nothing. wierd.
I may have a bad unit. I'll do some more testing. . .

hey jiri, check your email, I've sent the 2 versions of the directory listings to you.
Hopefully you'll figure this out soon! If anybody else wants a copy for testing purposes I can send these files to them too.
