1348: titlebar is sometimes missing "Tools","Help" [#7504]

Post by Dreadlau »

I don't know yet the steps to reproduce.

But I noticed that with "Main menu" disabled,
Sometimes when I expend the menu, "Tools" and "Help" are missing.
A restart fix the issue.

See screenshot:

Edit: I found out how to reproduce.

1. Uncheck main menu in view.
2. click on menu to expand it.
=> Working as expected.
3. go to tools > options > skin and switch to another skin. Close the options window.
4. Now click again on menu to expand it
=> Notice some elements are missing. ( see screenshot )

I've also seen this issue on the Now Playing Controls toolbar, but haven't found the trigger for that one.

I've seen something like this. How to reproduce:
1) Go to Party Mode. Only "View", "Play" and "Help" menu items are shown.
2) Go back to normal mode. The complete menu is not restored. In fact, what happens is: menu is split in two rows, with the second row ALMOST hidden. Take a look at this screen shot:

Restart MM and everything goes back to normal.

The bug I described in my first post just happened to me again.
This time only "Help" is cut out.

Misalignment of Main Menu has been reported in mantis when Mm main Window is redrawn from party mode but last time I checked that it works OK.

Please provide more info.

Also I'm wondering if the developers could consider the drop-down menu solution proposed by DreadM in this post: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 36#p286936
It would resolve these problems and it would also be more elegant.

@gege: I've not been able to reproduce.
But I've noticed something else:
If you have the standard toolbar disabled. Going to party mode enables it.
And it stays enabled when you return to normal mode.

@Dreadlau, I can't reproduce with those steps.
@gege, I can't reproduce this either.
Both tested on XP.

I'd rather they consider my suggestion of the IE style main menu where it's totally hidden and Alt shows it.

For me it happens only under Win7/Aero.
I tested in my netbook with XP and I was unable to reproduce, too.

Would be a good solution, IMO.

I don't like the idea of a hidden menu.

Well i just test it with IE ,and ok it works but the question is where it have to appear ?
and like somebody noticed It would be difficult to find for new users,
general i would prefer something that i can see!

In IE you hide the menu bar, so for new users it isn't difficult as they would need to hide the menu bar first. I do think the main menu should be able to be enabled/disabled from the context menu of any toolbar.

I tried gege's steps with party mode and Dreadlau's steps with changing skins but I still couldn't reproduce.

Like Dreadlau I like the drop down menu, though the current implementation works for me too if these issues can be resolved. I do not like the IE implementation. It's nice to have a relatively quick access to these items without them being totally hidden and not needing a key (alt) to bring them up.

I'll post EXACTLY what I'm doing. I can guarantee this happens to me consistently using build 1348, on Win7 with Aero.

1) MM just opened an in normal mode:

2) Click "View > Party Mode":

3) Dialog shows up:

4) Options are like this:

5) Party mode shows like this. To return to normal mode I click on locker icon:

6) Normal mode looks like this.

7) Notice "Play, Tools and Help" menu items are almost completely hidden in a second row, but fully functional, e.g., by using keyboard to navigate to them.
