For whatever reason, when I try to play certain songs, it won't play them and they all go grey. So really the player isn't deleting them, but it's basically forcing me to.
What do I have to do to prevent this?
My tracks are being deleted!

Find your tracks! This grey colouring means they are inaccessible which means the track has moved since it was scanned in.

what to do in short.?
rescan your songs in to monkey, and next time dont move them from out side of monkey, but use monkeys auto org.. feature to move them.
that allows monkey to keep track of your songs. if you move them with out using monkey then all the database in monkey is wrong and you need to rerscan in the songs to make a new database then remove the dead links.
use the dead links editor to find and remove them.

2. From the command line, type DIR and note the Volume ID of your new drive. Open Microsoft Access and modify the value of SerialNumber field of media ID = XX in table Medias to the valume of the Volume ID.
3. If you're not comfortable with MS Access, verify the media ID of your old drive (using DIR or by looking in the table Medias in MS Access) and then use Systernal's Volume ID tool to modify your drive's ID.

Ok, in addition to the FAQ I would like to add this.
Your songs get grey when you try to play them and the FAQ doesnt help, then this could also be the case:
Most likely:
1. The files have been moved with another application (e.g. explorer)
Solution 1: (Gold Feature)
1. Goto the node "Files to Edit->Dead Lnks"
2. Wait until MM has scanned through all tracks
3. Highlight all tracks
4. Goto "File->Locate Moved/Missing tracks"
5. Follow the instructions
This will keep your Playhistory, Playcount, Date Added and Playlists intact.
Solution 2: (All versions)
1. Goto the node "Files to Edit->Dead Lnks"
2. Wait until MM has scanned through all tracks
3. Highlight all tracks and delete them (The files aren't deleted from your HD)
4. Rescan your folders where your music is located.
This will forever delete your Playhistory, Playcount, Date Added and Playlists entries for these tracks!
Happens sometimes:
2. The file is corrupt
Solution:
- If the file is mp3. You could try to change input plugin to e.g. MAD
http://www.mediamonkey.com/input-plugins.htm
- Google for some mp3-repair program and try to repair the file(s)
Almost never:
3. The input plugin which is used to play the file type has been uninstalled
Solution:
- Install the plugin again

It seems that you don't rescanned your folders where your music files are located.
1. Press the insert key (or goto Files->Add/Rescan tracks to the library)
2. Select the folders where your music is.
3. Select the file types of your music files in the lower left corner (Should already be selected)
4. Hit OK
Now you should see a progressbar at the bottom of MM, saying:
Adding x of x ("full path....")
While scanning through your folders.
That should do it, doesnt it?

Then it looks like you have a corrupted track that ends the scanning process after 2 minutes. Try to locate the file where the scanning process ends and don't scan that folder until you fixed or deleted the file.
