Player "bleeding" through?

Post by paulmt »

On occasion mostly when searching Amazon via Auto Tag and while the player is playing, or while accessing the properties window I will get the player showing through the background. Usually on bits of the player and other than looking wrong doesn't seem to cause any other problem, though it does take a restart of MM to remove.
This not restricted to working on the song being played, it happens even when I am tagging further on in the library
It most often shows through the same position of the current window.
Any ideas what may be causing this?

I have between 500-700Mb Mem available while running MM
MM 2.5.3.968
Win XP Home SP2 and all current updates
256Mb GeForce 7900GT VGA with the latest drivers installed
I am using the "iTUNES" skin.

TIA
Paul

I haven't seen this before. Do you have any windows theme modifiers installed?

This is an example of what’s happening, doesn't always show in the same spot, more often top left of screen.

This seems to occur mostly when a previously tagged file using Auto Tag via Amazon does not show the image, so I tag it again with the resultant error "image already exists - overwrite etc" or words to this effect.

Then the player stops animation and result is as screenshot shows

Any thoughts
1. why this is happening
2. why I am losing album art tags (other programme's/scripts e.g. MonkeyROK) see the art ok, it will show in image viewer but then goes.

Any help appreciated..

edited because I deleted the original screenshot by mistake. This one shows the problem very well though.

I had the same problem with build 968, but I have not observed it in the newer beta builds (969 or 971), so maybe just installing one of those betas will fix it for you.

Ok, just did some more playing around...

The bleeding of the player has stopped, but the problems with the player "freezing", when editing the song that is just playing, is still alive in build 971.

Hiding the player and showing it again fixes the problem, but if you are editing several files, that is disturbing.

Thanks Wolfgang...

I have tried a few other things local to my system and will continue with this until a newer release version is available.

Just confirming that I've had that problem for quite awhile too, and I use a Matrox business Graphics card.

Seems to come alive when hiding the player... Have seen less of it in the latest beta I think..

I'd suspect it's a *video driver* problem more than a MM problem.

Yes normally I would agree with you, but not this time. I have a very modern graphics card with the latest drivers correctly installed.
I don't have any problem with any other programme regardless how demanding it may be.
The only problem I have is with MM. Therefore I must obviously assume the problem is MM's especially as I am not the only one having this problem.

I have re-installed MM but as soon as it is "put under load" the player freezes and this broken image "bleeds" through. Now it is even showing through the "downloading image" message when tagging.

BTW I am now using MM 2.5.4.977 and the problem persisits with this release also.

To everyone that has this problem or similar to what has been described in this and other threads....

PLEASE! I want this sorted out, so to assist MM can you all post details of...

Your Hardware
Operating System
Graphic Card Type and driver version
List all MM scripts or plug-ins you are using
Advise the skin you are using, and location of the player
Give an overview of how your computer runs under normal conditions outside of MM
Are you using Themes, or do you have wallpapers loaded etc

The more info. the better.

While I am getting very sick of this issue in my MM as I am sure you all are, you must post these details to give the Guys at MM a chance to locate the problem.

player display problem

Post by rusty »

Just had a report from Josh Von, experiencing the problem on:

Athlon 4200+ dual; A8N-SLI m/b; Win XP Home SP2; 1 GB RAM; Nvidia GeForce 6200 Turbocache PCI Express.

The only changes on this rig from a previous rig are the dual processor athlon and the graphics card.

Is anyone else experiencing the problem on a single processor system?

Not sure if I indicated this or not?
My system is...

Single CPU
P4 3.2Ghz

My MB is SLI capable but this is disabled at present, so only single graphic card.
