Photo Organizing Software

Post by nynaevelan »

Does anyone know of a photo organizing software that allows you to organize into Albums and search based on tag keywords, Photoshop Elements is just not cutting it??

Does either of these read the tags from the files? I hate learning new software. :-?

Hi,

If you are talking about ACDSee there is no scan/add as it automatically catalogues files upon browsing. You can exclude directories.

I am trying to work through both programs now to see which, if any, will meet my needs. Unfortunately it will take some times just to get the photos in before I can start figuring out how to organize them. Photoshop was very good with the tag organization but it sucked when it came to search through tags.

I use (not that much, I confess) Windows Live Photo Gallery, which is very good in organizing photos. You can group them based on date, tags, folders and so on. As far as I can recall, it doesn't have an option to create Albums, but this can be easily emulated by using Tags instead. Search feature is also very powerful.

I tried Picassa and ACDSee and while Picassa has the most of what I was looking for, it was lacking in the areas which I am familiar and happy with in Photoshop Elements. So I am currently trying the trial version of the 8.0 version, which has better search functionality than the 6.0 version has. Most likely I will just upgrade to 8.0 because I just do not have the patience to relearn a new program. I already have too many hobbies and too little time, there is no more room for another one.

But thank you all for your suggestions.
