Server Update

Post by rusty »

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note that we've updated our server. There are no known issues ATM:
- Problems logging into eSupport - FIXED.
- Wiki error - FIXED
- Error on the addons site - FIXED
- News doesn't display - FIXED

Please let us know if you notice any problems.

Thanks!

Your forum software seems to be updated too (new font).

How can I see the new messages since my last visit? (Color? Direct-Link?)

Additional question:
What is the difference between an new post and a unread post? (The first one doesn't appears in second category, why should a "new post" not be "unread"?).

There used to be red text showing new posts
Where's the db and ini stored
Reporting Bugs
Where tags are stored

It depends on the skin that you used what you saw before. I found it much easier too.

Sub-Forums display old/new image and topics have a red folder icon indicating they're new.

Anyone seen an option to reduce the font? It's way too much scrolling now.

Personally I like new Look. I also agree that Font could be Smaller, but CTRL+MOUSE SCROLL Solves that also (FireFox Zoom 80%).

Don't know if it's a consequence of server update, but the Addons page is behaving strangely.
The link tree, at the left side, is not expanding/collapsing correctly, making it impossible to navigate the addon categories.

I noticed that when the mouse cursor is placed over one link, the URL shown in status bar is incorrect. There's kind of a JavaScript error message (I guess) INSIDE the URL.

Here is a screenshot showing this behavior:

It's too hard to work out what's new and what's old with this new board style. 8)
And the pro silver is crap.

I might try using binoculars.

It's Annoying to Have to Go to the Home Page First

Post by yarguy »

Since the new version of the MM web site has appeared I find it annoying to have to go to the site's home page before going to the section I want. Formerly, if I clicked on Help -> On-line Forum I was connected directly to the forum; now I have to make a brief stop at the home page. Why?

And it seems to have made it almost impossible to find add-ons. If I click Tools -> Extensions -> Get More Extensions I am taken to the main Add-ons page. But now if I click on a category, say Management, there it is - the MM home page. Even worse, though, if I click on Add-ons here, while I do go to the Add-ons page. then the vicious circle rears it ugly head. Clicking any category gets me to - yes, the MM home page.

Am I doing something wrong, or do the people at Ventis just hate users?

I've finally given up on the new MediaMonkey theme and changed to the standard Pro Silver theme.
I can identify new posts at a glance now by color instead of having to look for New/Old. :)

You are right, much better. Thank you for this hint!

User Control Panel -> 3rd tab "Board preferences" -> Edit global settings ->
Right side panel: "My board style" change from "MediaMonkey" to "prosilver"

And it's a more compact design providing more information on screen resulting in less scrolling.
