"Must" Haves

Post by tommae88 »

What do you guys think are "THE" must have scripts for MediaMonkey? I'm sure this won't really help the people who visit this forum often, but it might give some of the people just getting into MediaMonkey a headstart without looking through the entire forum. I'm just going to list the scripts that I seem to use the most often, and I'm sure everybody's is different, so this should be a good place for new MM users to start their search if people reply.

First, a picture for some reference. (it has been changed a bit since - colorwise)
Image

Most Notable Scripts (oh yes, I have many more, lol)
Detailed Song Info Panel
Magic Nodes
Browse by Art
Advanced Report Modify
Radio Free Monkey
Case Checker Modification (lowercase)
StartupNode(I use something much more simple which simply selects the Artist Node on startup so my library is visible immediately, but this is close as well and I installed it at one point)
Library Panes

EDIT
I now absolutely ADORE the Album Art Tagger as well, so thats a definite addition to my list.

Plugins
VID4WA
Misc. plugins to allow me to play other file formats, such as m4a's.

Skins
Skins (mine, have since been modified a bit)

I'm sure I forgot to add a few, but those are what I thought of immediately, and seem to help me the most.

you have to download the icons at http://www.mediamonkey.com/contrib/artwork/icons.zip
and extract to the icons directory in MM and then have something to edit them, I didn't really know what I was doing so I just made them all black as that went with my color scheme better than yellow, its probably explained better in the artwork help file (http://www.mediamonkey.com/contrib/artw ... monkey.txt)

oh i don't know i like yellow on black which is what i made mine as.
of course i made mine also for use with my different skins.

such as a banana for them when using jungle monkey skin.

you can do a lot with them if you can get enough images with little detail.

the black is hard to see. you migth be better off making them a bar graphe kind of like i did the semi trucks. only make it for the whole image

My top three scripts are:

1) Browse By Art
2) Detailed Song Panel
3) Batch Art Finder

Without these three, my monkey would not be the same. Still the most powerful manager out there, but even better now! :)
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.

I don't know, for me i can see it pretty well, but my entire windows theme can be difficult to read at times -- the black works for me because I have never really liked anything to stick out too much, and this is visible for me, but it doesn't just hit you in the face like a brick out of nowhere lol.

Oh, and yeah I like the yellow/black combination as well in most circumstances, but for some reason it just stuck out a lot for me here.

If you have the latest version, there are two options in the "Tools, Scripts" menu, one for the normal panel, and one for a dockable one.

Can you please tell me where can I download or copy the code for the latest version? and also how do I find the menu you mentioned?

My Top (Most Used Scripts) are...

JustPlaySomething - by DiddeLeeDoo
AutoRateSongs - by DiddeLeeDoo
Backup - by Trixmoto
LibraryPanes - by Steegy
MonkeyRok Alpha2 - by Oldskool73
DetailedSongInfo - by Psyxonova
Visualisation Embedder with Milkdrop - by Steegy
TrayControl - by Peke
BackButton - by Trixmoto

And there are many more I use only occasionally when required, like, BrowseByArt, AlbumArtTagger, GoogleArtFinder, PlayHistory & Stat Node, Magic Nodes, TweakMonkey and AdvancedReportModify.

And quiet a few more.

One thing I do know, my MediaMonkey experience would be a hell of a lot less without these scripts and plugins.

You can find the latest version in the script thread. The menu items are in "Tools,Scripts".

My list of essential scripts would have to include the following:
BrowseByArt - by Trixmoto
PrettyPictures - by DaleDeSilva
Backup - by Trixmoto
MonkeyRok - by Oldskool73
LibraryPanes - by Steegy
Magic Nodes - Pablo
Advanced Rename - by Trixmoto

A real favourite of mine is a collection of utility functions in one script:
CustomScripts - by W. Kyle White

I've been using this for a long while now - but sometimes needs a little editing to make it work exactly how you want. Some of the features have since been independantly replicated and expanded upon by others, including:
Search & Replace - by DiddeLeeDoo
SwitchOrCopyFields - by Steegy
