Disc Number

Post by Lowlander »

I'm wondering what the correct way is for disc number when you have an album with only 1 disc. Do you set the disc # to 1 or do you leave it empty? What do the standards say, what do you guys do?

I'm a bit ambivalent to this. I still use 3-digit track#'s to indicate the disc# but only on multi-disc albums. I have been thinking of changing that though.

I did so to before switching to MediaMonkey 3. Now I will use the disc # field for multiple disc albums. I just wonder if your supposed to (yes for the anal taggers) also fill in this field for single disc albums?

I only use disc # on multi-disc albums/compilations, and, like Bex, then I use three-digit track numbering. Works quite well for me.

Since I've noticed this feature (was it new to MM3?) I've started using it for any new album with more than one disc, but I've yet to go back through my collection and fill it in for older ones. But if an album has more than one disc, I still name each folder (and tag the album) as "Album Name - Disc 1" as well.

I only fill Disc# for multiple disc albums. And, for Folder arrangements, I can use this snippet of Auto-organise mask:

Code: Select all

...\<Year> - <Album>$If(<Disk#>,\CD<Disk#>,)\...
This way, each disc has its own folder (named CD1, CD2, etc...) in the full album folder.
Works very well for me.
